Snapchat has decided to slice its name down the middle and rebranded itself as Snap Inc.
The name of their photo and video sharing app will remain the same, but it is just one element of a larger organisation (Snap Inc.), which now describes itself a ‘a camera company’.
Alongside the new name, the company also announced its newest invention, ‘Spectacles’ – a less nerdy-looking (and significantly cheaper) version of Google Glass that takes pictures, records video and posts them directly to Snapchat.
You will have to move quick if you want to get your hands on a pair, as there will be a limited supply. They will be available in one-size-fits-all variants of black, teal or coral.
Snap’s new Spectacles will cost $129.99 (or around £100 in the UK, TBC) and record up to 30 seconds of video in a ‘circular’ frame which plays full-screen on any device – forever ending the need to choose between portrait and landscape.
