With the imminent launch of James Bond’s latest outing ‘Spectre’, Daniel Craig has said that he’d rather ‘slash his own wrists’ than reprise his role as the character one more time. Despite still being contracted to play Bond after the film’s release on October 26th, it’s likely that somebody else will be taking on the role for the character’s next film.
The latest bond film took a staggering 8 months to shoot in various locations, including London, Rome, Mexico City, Morocco and the Austrian Alps – and it sounds like Daniel Craig is pretty fed up with it all:
“For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it. I don’t know what the next step is…. Who the fuck knows? At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.” said Craig, before saying that he wants to “just have a holiday”.
Eon, the studio that makes the bond films, reportedly wanted to film the follow-up to Spectre straight away. A discussion even took place considering the possibility of filming two movies back-to-back, to which Craig said: “You’re out of your fucking minds.” In the nicest possible way. They’re just too big.’
Both Idris Elba and Damien Lewis have been strong candidates for the future part, with even Tom Hardy getting a mention. However, when asked who’d like to see as his successor, he simply replied “Look, I don’t give a f***, good luck to them.”
