Don’t panic, the dog featured in this video isn’t about to eat the magpie that’s manically flapping its wings. In fact, they’re the best of friends.
A short clip which was taken in China shows a dog running around as a magpie teases it – perching on its back and flying around, willing the dog to play with it.
The dog, which looks to be a Border Collie, is more than happy to play along, and the thought of hurting the bird seems to be the last thing on its mind.
The owner of the dog says that the playing between the two is a regular occurrence – in fact, the two hang out with each other every single day.
The person filming, who is believed to be the dog owner’s neighbour, can be heard speaking in Chinese and saying ” “This is so interesting, never seen anything like this before.”
Astounded by their relationship, they then ask whether the dog ever bites the magpie.
The owner replies: “Never, they just want to play, they always get together and play every afternoon.”
The magpie apparently only trusts this one pooch, as the owner adds: “The bird won’t play with any other dog.”
As with most videos of unlikely animals friendships, footage of this incredible relationship has of course gone viral, attracting around 40,000 views on Liveleak.
This could make a great sequel to Disney’s the Hound and the Fox, but you know, with a magpie instead of a fox…
