Most children have had a favourite toy or teddy that’s brought them great comfort in times of stress, and for some animals, it’s really no different.
Breeze the horse was found abandoned, shocked and dehydrated as a foal in 2013, and was brought in by the Mare and Foal Sanctuary in Devon, who provided him with warmth and safety, as well as a big ol’ cuddly bear to snuggle up to.
Three years on and Breeze has fully recovered, but was recently reunited with his beloved teddy bear Buttons, who he seemed to have never forgotten about.
Doesn’t he look happy? Deputy Yard Manager Nicola Anstey said: “Reunited after three years, we could see how pleased Breeze was to have his friend back! There was a lot of interested sniffing and licking, then Breeze decided to give Buttons a tour of his new stable and carried him around by his ear… We thought that Buttons might not want Breeze sitting on him again now he is so grown-up, so we snuggled the bear up to Breeze and he happily snoozed the afternoon away.” What an adorable duo.
Breeze is now twice the size of Buttons the Teddy bear, but as a foal he was completely dwarfed by it.
The teddy bear seems to have stood the test of time. Anyone who’s watched Toy Story will know that a personal toy is so much more than just a toy – it can become a close companion, and Breeze seems to know this all too well.
