Three abandoned two-week-old kittens have found a new parent – in the form of a pug.
The kittens were born in a stairwell, and sadly, abandoned by their mum. Thankfully, they were discovered and taken into Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, where they got to meet Peppa the pug.
Peppa was also a stray animal who was discovered and brought into the home. It is thought that an infection of the mammary glands that she had suffered from was due to having been put through backstreet breeding.
Peppa went through the necessary surgery to help her recover and was nursed fully back to health by Battersea Canine Behaviourist and Training Advisor Louise, who also fostered the pug throughout her recovery. As well as Peppa, Louise has also fostered the three kittens who go by the adorable names Conker, Pickle, and Pumpkin.
However, it seems that Peppa has shown that she would like to take on that job herself.
When Peppa first caught sight of the kittens, she immediately warmed to them and decided that she would make them her own responsibility. The pug cleans them, protects them and generally treats them as if they were her own children. What a perfect family.
The four of them even sleep together, snuggling up in a cosy basket.
The kittens now all have homes that they will be going to when they’re old enough to be adopted, which is great news, but our hearts break a little bit when we think of this perfect family being seperated.
Hopefully Conker, Pickle, and Pumpkin will always remember Peppa as the mum that brought them up.
